The Janion Project Approved by City of Victoria

Lawmakers unanimously approved a development and heritage alteration permit that will allow Reliance Properties to add a six-storey structure to the rear of the Janion building and restore it for commercial and residential use.

Reliance hopes to turn the building into over 100 micro-lofts between 230 and 590 square feet in size, which are expected to cost around $110,000 (starting).

The micro lofts will be built to high standards including built in queen sized wall beds which act as a table during the day, then folded down into a bed at night.  This is much needed as every sq/ft will count with these units.  Kitchens plan to be sleek and some units will have floor to ceiling glass windows and small balconies.

The front half of the building will be kept to its heritage facade and the developers will add a new back half to the property.  The “blue bridge” replacement is also expected to be completed at the end of 2015 which will work to the developers benefit.

Should be a fun project to watch.
